Watching the semi final was like watching a final with great games played and some fantastic bowls. The final was held between Terry, Peter L & Cameron and Philip Skoglund, Phil Skoglund & Derek McKee with a score of 14 each on the 17th game it was a thriller right up untill the last end where Philip held 1 on the board 16 - 15. The last end saw the shot change on almost every bowl. As usual the last end took it's time but it was the Skoglunds and Derek who kept their cool and won the game. Well done Philip, Phil & Derek.

Ladies Centre Triples
It was a great effort from the Northern Ladies to have teams in the semi finals. The club was guaranteed an all northern final and that Northern would win.
The final was between Chris. Noeleen & Lynlea and Hine, Carol and Sue W. It was a very tight fought match but it was Chris, Noeleen and Lynlea who manged to win the final by one point. This is Chris and Lynlea's first centre title and Noeleen's 15th. A great effort all round.
Ladies Centre Pairs
Two Northern teams made it to the semi finals. Another great Northern effort! Te final was between Bev bud and Anne & Julianne. A great game but Bev came out on top this time. Well done Anne and Julianne for making it to the final. Sue and Anna got 3 = with Pat Corr from PN.

News Update - 5 Nov 09
Apart from the indifferent weather the season seems to have started well with club champs underway, Skogs finally started (a 6 team clean sweep this week against Terrace End!) and the midweek aggregate also well under way.
Mates In Bowls
The highlight this week has been the very successful first night of Mates In Bowls. Many thanks to all the willing helpers who attended last night. The 26 teams were all very well looked after and the positive comments from them indicating great assistance and encouragement from our club members. I heard many of the visitors saying that they can’t wait for next Wednesday. We do expect another couple of teams next week so we do need your ongoing help with running the evening. If you couldn’t make it last night but would like to help out please be at the club by 5:30pm next Wednesday.
Friday Night
It is good to see a growing crowd enjoying our traditional Friday evening social night. Last week’s fish and chip meal which followed housie was popular and I am sure that Bill will be doing that again soon. This Friday will see the very popular Racing Night happen again. For the grand sum of $2 entry you stand to win BIG (just ask Joan) with phantom bets placed on a number of live races and the winner being the person who makes the most from the $5 each way phantom bets. The large screen will be set up and racing guides provided. The first race is at 5:30pm so be there in plenty of time to register and make your first pick. Bring your friends for the best value for money night you will have in a long time.
Centre Triples and Pairs
Good luck to those of you playing in these centre events this weekend.
Club Roll Up
For those of you not playing the centre events there will be a club roll up on both thisSaturday and Sunday afternoons at 1:00pm. Names on the blackboard in the men’s locker room please or phone in your name by 12:30pm each day.
See you all on the green again soon

With the sun shining, the greens running well and only a little breeze to contend with it was a great weekend of Club Championships. Some great games were played to a very high standard. Well done to all those teams who qualified.

Well done to everyone. The knockout rounds will be exciting if the standard of bowls played this weekend was anything to go by.
