Issue # No. 9 2007

It is with sadness that we have learnt of the passing of Des Millington. Des was a long time club member who enjoyed his midweek bowls and was here playing only last week. Our condolences to the Millington family.

As a follow up to my comments last week about giving a helping hand around the club when you notice something needs doing; thanks to those who have been assisting with putting out or away the boards, mats etc. Please remember to clean the boards before you return them to the shed.

A reminder that Marlene Brown is our club Welfare Officer. Please keep her informed about any issues or situations relating to our members that we should be aware of.

These finals will be the start of our Xmas Special Day so we hope that many of you will make a day of it by watching these finals, staying for lunch and then playing in the afternoon tournament. The Entry Sheet is on the notice board.

Interclub

Last weekend the interclub was completed and while it was disappointing that our senior men didn’t succeed, the ladies 1st and 2nd division teams, and the men’s 2nd and 3rd division teams won their sections Congratulations to all involved and the best of luck to the three teams who will compete in the Zone Finals in March.

As selector of the Ladies I would like to congratulate all our players that competed. To qualify for two National play offs is a great effort and our win should be recognised as a club effort. My thanks to all members who participated with special thanks to Chris Entwistle and Joy Pearce who managed the teams so well.

Club Tournaments and Competitions

Carpet Court entries are now complete and it would be appreciated if the entry fee could be received by anniversary weekend. Fees can be paid to any of the following - Julianne, Sue Meyer, Jacinta, Lynlea or Phil.

Aggregate and Points Day

Xmas prizes will be finalised over the next two weeks so if you want some goodies make sure you are at the club on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Social

The Xmas Special Day is only 12 days away and we need to know for catering purposes how many will be attending for lunch and the evening meal. So if you haven’t been into the club lately and signed up please do so as soon as you can.

This year club members are having a Xmas Lunch at Modena on the 21st of December and the men are invited to go along. So if you are interested put your name on the whiteboard in the lounge.

No doubt i have forgotten something so keep a watch on the board for any late or forgotten news.

Have a great Xmas everyone

PHIL
